Nissan opens renewed auction hall in Tsurumi
On March 16, Nissan Used Car Center Co. (NUC) held the grand opening ceremony at its new Tsurumi Hail, Kanagawa Prefecture. The new hall will be operated by NAA Tokyo.
Former NAA Tokyo hall was located in Zama City and began auctions about 20 years ago. The Zama hall ceased its operations in February 2018, and then relocated to Daikoku, Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama City in March 2018.
At the opening auction, exhibited used cars totaled 1,911 units, marking the largest number in the past 10 years for NAA Tokyo. Of that, 1,529 vehicles were sold with the average sold price of 395,000 yen. The sold vehicles accounted for 80.0 percent of total exhibited vehicles.
NUC President Ken Okuyama said, "With the new hall, we hope to attract 53,000 used vehicles to the auctions in this fiscel year, up 30 percent compared to the previous year."
The event was also attended by Koji Yasuda, Nissan Motor Co.'s U-Car Division, and Akira Yokoyama, President of Kanagawa Nissan Motor Co.
Be Forward to offer agricultural machine, construction machinery, parts in Myanmar
Be Forward Co. announced that the exporter set up its official agent office in Myanmar on March 17.
The company is likely to focus on sales of agricultural machines and construction machinery in the country, which put a ban on import of right-hand-drive cars in 2018.
The vehicle exporter will also enter the sales of used copier and other non-automotive products in Myanmar.
New vehicle sales down 2.2% in February, minicars boost
In February 2018, new vehicle sales (over 1,000 cc engine vehicles and under 660 cc minivehicles) declined 2.2 percent from a year earlier to 473,878 units. It marked year-on-year decrease for five consecutive months.
Honda N-Box minicar maintained the best-selling model's position in the market, while Nissan's Dayz minicar ranked second.
According to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (DADA), the Fdebruary sales of over 1,000 cc vehicles alone declined 4.9 percent year-on-year to 296,665 units.
Meanwhile, sales of under 660 cc engine-class minivehicles increased 2.6 percent from a year earlier to 177,213 units. It marked the yearly gain for two consecutive months.

Used vehicle exports rise 16th straight month, Russia boosts, Myanmar revived, NZ slows
In February 2018, used vehicle exports from Japan totaled 101,789 units, up 0.9 percent from a year earlier. According to the Ministry of Finance's Trade statistics, it marked year-on-year increase for sixteen consecutive months since November 2016.
Passenger car, truck and dump, bus, and electrified vehicles (electric vehicle, hybrid vehicle and plug-in hybrid vehicle) are included in the export statistics.
Myanmar came back to the largest importer's position, to which 12,321 used vehicles were exported, up 221 percent from a year earlier. More than half of the total was trucks.
United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) came to second with 10,077 vehicles, down 24.4 percent from a year earlier.
Exports to New Zealand tumbled 32.8 percent to 8,401 units.
In contrast, exports to Russia and Sri Lanka sharply increased 330.9 percent and 121.5 percent, respectively. Used vehicles bound for Botswana, Malawi and Fiji also sharply increased.
Exports to Kenya, however, dropped 29.8 percent, while those to Jamaica declined 43.4 percent.
In January-February 2018, used vehicle exports totaled 180,769 units, up 2.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Toyota and Suzuki to mutually suppy of vehicles in India
On March 29, Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) and Suzuki Motor Corporation (Suzuki) have concluded a basic agreement toward the mutual supply of hybrid and other vehicles between the two companies for the Indian market.
Specifically, Suzuki will supply the Baleno and Vitara Brezza vehicle models to Toyota, while Toyota will supply the Corolla vehicle model to Suzuki.
