Mauritius requires auction sheet certificate for used car import
In order to prevent from illegal used vehicles being imported to the domestic market, Mauritius authority decided to require local importers to submit auction sheet English version certificate before shipment from Japan.
With the certificate, importers are able to process the vehicle export from Japan. The auction sheet, which is originally described in Japanese language, should be translated into English and then certified by the authorized institution.
On the other hand, the government continues to adopt pre-shipment vehicle inspection (PSI) for each vehicle, which is operated by the competent authority.
Mauritius is a major destination of Japanese used vehicles with younger vehocle age. In 2017, used vehicle exports from Japan to Mauritius totaled 8,076 units.
